We know that having a puppy or dog isn’t always a walk in the park!

Walk Talk & Train sessions are a great way for you and your dog to get support and learn in a friendly and relaxed group environment.

Walk

Enjoy a social walk with your dog and a group of other like minded owners.

Talk

Get professional advice on any problems you’re having. You never know, others may be having the same issues so you can take comfort in knowing you’re not alone.

Train

These structured walks give you the opportunity to pick up new skills and brush up on old ones whilst out with other dogs and owners all trying to do the same thing.

Groups are organised by the age of your dog, not their ability level. Age ranges are:
– From fully vaccinated up to 1 year old
– From 1 year old upwards

Walk Talk & Train sessions take place on the first Thursday and Saturday of each month in parks and urban areas around Marlborough. With groups no larger than five, we ensure everyone gets some 1-2-1 attention and the dogs are not overwhelmed.

Walk Talk & Train sessions can help teach your dog to:

Walk nicely on a lead
Calmly greet other dogs and people
Settle around other dogs
Recall from distractions
Recall from other dogs
Have confidence around different dogs and new people
Build a positive association to new places, dogs and people
These sessions are not free for alls and will not involve an hour of off lead play. You can do that yourself on your own walks if you want to. Instead, we focus on calmness around dogs, good social skills and building confidence.

Walk Talk & Train sessions are not appropriate for dogs that are extremely fearful and therefore reactive to other dogs or people, or dogs that will bark continuously when in the presence of others.

In order to attend you will need to have had a 1-2-1 training session or come to a puppy class with Lucy Ward Dog Training in last 12 months.

This is to ensure we’ve met everyone on the session, there has been some basic training put in place and to assess whether your dog would suit these sessions.
