Hello I’m Lucy!

I’m a qualified mantrailing instructor, scent detection instructor, and dog trainer. I have a huge passion for scent sports and love bringing the fun and intricacies of these sports to my clients and their dogs. I’m kept busy and entertained by my Airedale Terrier Wooster, and Springer x Collie Oscar who love scent work as much as I do.

When I’m not working with clients I love to go out training with my own dogs, I enjoy playing the flute in an amateur orchestra, The Wiltshire Film Orchestra, and learning Italian. I’ve also started working as a dog handler with a company who provides dogs and animals for film, tv and commercials.

After getting my BA (Hons) degree in Music, Theatre and Entertainment Management from the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA), and having spent 10 years working on set in the film industry as a script supervisor, in 2018 I decided to make a change and learn something new! I’d always been a huge dog lover, but didn’t get the opportunity to have my own until I had a change of career to become a dog trainer.

I completed practical training courses, read many dog training and behaviour books and boosted my hands on experience by spending five months working at Glendee Rescue.

After this I moved to Wiltshire and assisted a fantastic trainer at puppy classes for six months to build my knowledge and confidence in teaching.

My journey to becoming a qualified trainer was with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT). I passed my externally assessed written and practical assessment with distinction in July 2020 and achieved an OCN Level 3 in Principles of Dog Training and Behaviour.

In September 2020 I qualified as a Mantrailing UK instructor and got the bug for the sport and scent detection from there.

I am now a Scent Imprint for Dogs (SIFD) Level 2 Tracking and Trailing instructor, qualified scent detection instructor with United Canine Scent Sport and continue to expand my knowledge attending practical workshops, seminars and conferences.
